DNA Totem Celebration is April 9th
Marcus Garvey Park Alliance's (MGPA) Public Art Initiative - DNA Totem by Artist Suprina
The DNA Totem is designed to stimulate dialogue on our unconscious disregard for the planet by sharing a sampling of embedded discarded objects donated by the community and found objects from the artist.
The DNA Totem will be on view (120th Street/Fifth Avenue at Marcus Garvey Park entrance - up the staircase) through September 3oth. MGPA and Heath Gallery will co-host the opening reception Saturday, April 9th, 2016 at 4:30 pm. Performances by Kid Lucky, Young Drip, Parabxlla, Victoria Awogbemi with Guitarist Jennifer Ochiaga. At 6pm festivities move across the street to Heath Gallery for the group exhibition, Caught in an Upward Spiral. The exhibition features Victoria Udondian, Gabriel Shuldimer, Jeffrey Allen Price and 4 works by DNA Totem Artist Suprina. Caught in an Upward Spiral is on exhibit through May 22, 2016. Curated by Leanne Stella and Akeem Duncan the exhibition coincides with FLUX Art Fair 2016.
